Race Blog

I believe heat can really affect an individual on a daily basis. It can cause our blood temperatures to rise and some may even die in the heat. Heat is a huge environmental stress which causes many things to go wrong. This is why it is completely illegal to leave children in the car in the heat. And if an elder individual can not afford air conditioning they may also lose their lives. Humans have adapted to this stress by simply changing the way they live their everyday lives. They drink more water in the hot climates to keep their bodies from getting dehydrated. They stay in cool places with air conditioning which allows them to stay cool and won't allow their body temperatures to rise so high. Humans also change their diets so they won't have too much body fat that will cause them to over heat. Clothing is another thing individuals must change in order to keep cool. What an individual wears in the heat plays a big role on the way that individual may feel.

Short Term: Sweating
Sweating plays a huge part in our lives. It is a way to keep the body cool. We sweat a lot in heat climates. This is why it is important to keep the body cool during the heat. Sweat can also cause the body to become dehydrated, which will cause many people to faint or many other dangerous problems if you don't drink enough. Your body is constantly sweating out all the water in your body so it is extremely important to keep drinking water when you are in hot climates.

Facultative: Swimming
Swimming is the first thing individuals adjust to in the heat. Not every one can tan. Some are naturally dark, and tanning will increase the risk of skin cancer. Many people run to the community pool for a quick dip or take trips to the beach to cool off in the water. Swimming is an excellent way to keep the body cool and since your body is a big body of water, it will not have to sweat as much which causes the body to stay cool and hydrated.

Developmental Adaptation: High Heels
High Heels are the perfect developmental adaptation. It is a permanent change to the body unintended. Many women may wear shoes that are too small which may cause a lot of future orthopedic problems. A lot of women are trying to abide by the rule that small feet are sexy. So they often buy shoes that are too small just to trick individuals into thinking their feet are much smaller than what they really are. Women love wearing high heels, it not only makes them feel sexy, but it also makes them feel independent and confident. We don't think of the negative impact of wearing heels everyday will have on our lives in the future because we often live in the moment.

Cultural Adaptation: Marriage
Marriage is a huge cultural adaptation. Many people change a lot of things in their lives just to be accepted by the individual they love. A wedding can cause a lot of cultural changes. For example, if a woman was marrying a Jew, she would find a way to adapt to the Jewish cultural in order to accepted by the man's family. And when marrying an individual with cultural differences, you have to think of the changes you will have to adjust if you decide to have children. People adjust their whole lifestyle when it comes to marriage. It not only keeps their marriage long lasting, but it can also have a positive impact on their lives.

Humans are quiet interesting. They are all diverse individuals. Studying humans from different clines is the perfect way to get a better understanding on how each human is different. If we didn't study human beings in different environmental climates we wouldn't have learned death is one of the worst outcomes that can happen to an individual in temperatures that are too hot and temperatures that are too cold. We also have learned there are many diseases out there that can cause an individual to break out, blood pressures rise or even allow the heart to stop working. These facts can be useful. It informs human beings of all the risk they are taking whenever they are out in the weather climate. Perfect way to warn them to dress appropriately in weather climate and keep warm and cool in order to stay healthy.

Race would be used  in certain comparisons. Not every race can tan. Some light complected individuals can tan which allows them to gain a natural sun glow which can last a few months. As for more darker complected people can no tan because it can increase their risk of skin cancer. Race wouldn't matter too much when it comes to people sweating. Everyone sweats. Some more than others, but if you stay cool and keep drinking lots of water you won't pass out. Any race can swim. Race would not play a role in the way we keep our bodies cool and hydrated. Race plays a role in Marriage. If you come from a different background like the example I used earlier about Jews, than how your mate adjusts to the way your lifestyle is can be a huge impact. That person is changing their whole cultural background to fit into their mates. Which makes race a big factor in the way an individual might do things.

Language

Part A of this assignment was quite difficult. I found that my partners felt quite threatened by my silence. I attempted this assignment on friends and family. They know me to be quite talkative. My silence made them very uncomfortable. I didn't use any type of hand gestures, nor did I speak in their conversations. I spent most of my time listening. Many changed the subject so much to the point the completely stopped talking. I noticed I was in charge of the conversation drift. The more silent I was, the more these individuals changed their topics to get me to initiate in the conversation. My partners were in charge of the topics, they kept stumbling on different topics to get me to respond to just about anything. What was completely awkward was when any of these individuals asked me a question and I didn't respond, I noticed they got completely offended. Replying back to me with an attitude thirty seconds after they have just asked me a question. It was nice to inform them after the fifteen minutes were up, that this was in fact an experiment. Out of the reactions I received, I believe I had the power over most of these individuals. Many of them would stop talking to pull me aside and ask if I was angry at them. Made it much easier to tell I was in power. If my partners and I were from two different cultures, I would believe they would have an advantage to come up with more complex ideas than I could. I represent an individual who isn't from the same culture as them and can not speak the language they speak, nor do I understand. English has the biggest advantage in communicating and coming up with complex ideas in their population. A big example that resembles this type of example would be a French speaker and a person who can only speak sign language. The complications of the two would be completely mind blowing.

Part B was much more difficult. To have a dull conversation without any hand gestures, tone changes or pretty much any expression to enlighten the conversation was much harder than it seemed. I found my partners either talking over me or just exiting out my conversation completely. One of my friends pulled me to the side to ask if I was okay, and to ask me why am I depressed. My siblings thought I was lacking self esteem, and even took me out to go get ice cream. Many individuals would scream "what?" in the middle of conversation to try and see if I would talk louder. Our signs are very important. It helps give an individual a greater aspect of the conversation. It helps us better describe a topic whenever hand gestures are used properly. Body language is the most important way we as humans can tell an individual is into or even paying attention to a discussion. If an individual is lacking body language, the person speaking about a topic feels as if they are boring you, so it will make any individual stop discussing the topic they were so deeply into. A perfect example of not being able to successfully read another individual body language correctly would be better described as dating. Individuals are always reading one another body language incorrectly and getting misinterpreted, which can always lead to embarrassment or someone getting their feelings hurt. When dating, body language is not a reliable source. A girl can just be confident enough to cross her legs and look at you in your eyes while you are speaking to her, that doesn't mean she is into you. Just because you can have a deep conversation with an individual, doesn't mean they may be into you or want you in any kind of way.
